Kingston HyperX 4 GB Kit (2x2 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 KHX1600C8D3K2/4GX Reviews

Great RAM 2/20/2010
By kevin

Pros: This is great RAM. It did default to 1333 with timings of 9-9-9-24 and 1.5 voltage when used in my MSI GD65 motherboard, but that's okay though... A lower default speed with loose timings equal assured RAM stability on a new system build. Anyway, simply going into the BIOS and turning on XMP causes it to automatically be set at 1600 8-8-8-23 1.65 volts. I've thoroughly tested it and it's rock solid stable at those settings. I have clocked it up much higher and with tighter timings and it accepted them and booted up fine, but I haven't stress tested at those settings yet, so I won't mention specifics.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'm running an Intel i5-750 Quad CPU, an MSI P55 GD65 motherboard, an ATI/AMD 5770 graphic card, and 4 gigs(2 x 2GB sticks) of this Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 RAM.

Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 4 GB PC3-12800 Core i5 Memory Kit Reviews

Very good, March 22, 2010
By Yang

Ram works fine with i3-540, even it says for i5.

I easily overclocked it to 1820MHZ(maybe higher, but it is enough to me) and finish the torture test, however, the voltage had to be set to 1.66v (no rated 1.65v option on my MB), otherwise, it will cause BSOD.

Another thing, this ram is not low voltage one like the recommended RAM voltage for i3-540: around 1.5v, it actually is not for i3 and i5 etc. Well, nobody cares Intel's recommendation though. Also the voltage for i3 needs to be increased too, so that the difference between I3 and ram is less than 0.4v, otherwise it may damage the processor.
